Iowa City, IA — Green Schools National Network (GSNN) today announced the appointment of three new board members: Caroline Hill, Diana Cournoyer, and Geoff Deigan. The new cohort will support continued growth around GSNN’s mission to ensure every student attends a healthy, equitable, and sustainable school.
“We are excited to welcome Caroline, Diana, and Geoff as new strategic thinkers on Green Schools National Network’s board and especially value their expertise and commitment to addressing the link between equity and sustainability,” said Jennifer Seydel, Ph.D., GSNN’s executive director. “They are joining us at an exciting time as we prepare to relaunch the organization with a renewed focus on transforming schools from good to green, from places that support and celebrate test takers into places that create change makers.”

Caroline Hill, founder of 228 Accelerator, is a thought leader who lives, works, and designs at the intersection of education, innovation, and equity. Caroline brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, education innovation, management consulting, and engineering. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia and a Master of Education in Learning and Teaching from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Diana Cournoyer, executive director of the National Indian Education Association (NIEA), has been a key driver in expanding NIEA’s work beyond the halls of the U.S. Capitol to communities across Indian Country. Cournoyer directs her staff in carrying out NIEA’s strategic plan which includes: advocacy; building tribal education capacity; culture-based education; skilled teachers and leaders; establishing educational standards, assessments, and accountability; and post-secondary success.
Geoff Deigan is executive director of the highly acclaimed, award-winning Prairie Crossing Charter School, an environmentally centered public school in Grayslake, Illinois. Since 1997, Geoff has also served as founder, president, and CEO of WRD Environmental, an ecological consulting firm. His extensive board experience includes service with land conservation organizations, public libraries, for purpose 501c3s, and charter schools.
These appointments bring the board of directors to a total of 12 members.
