Engaging in the Fight Against Extinction

Grades 6 - 12

In this curricular unit (three lesson plans), students research human and environmental drivers of mass extinction and learn how the loss of one species impacts other species and biomes. After selecting an endangered species to focus on, students create tri-fold pamphlets that promote their species of choice and suggest research-based action steps people can take to protect that species. Finally, students identify and implement ways to spread their message to the larger community.
