Organic Valley’s philosophy and decisions are based on the health and welfare of people, animals and the earth. It’s a mission-driven cooperative, owned by family farmers, and OV has been a leader in organic agriculture from the very beginning. One OV program we find particularly inspiring is Generation Organic, which involves a group of Organic Valley farmers aged 18 to 35 who represent the next generation of sustainable agriculture leaders. They believe in the power of organic to change the world, and every fall since 2010, a group of “Gen-O” farmers have hit the road in their veggie-oil powered bus for the annual “Who’s Your Farmer?” tour. The third annual Generation Organic tour set off September 25 from Organic Valley HQ in La Farge, WI for three weeks on the road through Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Gen-Os stopped at college campuses, grocery stores and food co-ops, farmers markets, organic farms and many places along the way, talking to people about how the food choices they make every day affect their health and that of the planet.
